What if you were able to do the work that you've always wanted to do?
What if you could travel the world?
What if you could talk to your loved ones right now?
What if you could really understand yourself?
What if you tried to figure out what another person is really saying?
What if you only had today to do any of those things? What if you only had today to do all of those things?
I have a very good friend that has gone to three funerals for family members in the past month. I have two relatives who have been diagnosed with different cancers and given six to twelve months to live. One of my students had a friend die in a car accident. You might be thinking, so what? We are all going to die. And that is the heart of the matter. We are all going to die. And none of us really know when that is going to happen. What if your time was up tomorrow? What would you regret not having done? What would you wish that you could take back? What would you want to do-over in your life? Today is the day to ask those what ifs. Tomorrow is not guaranteed for any of us. So what if this were it? What if this were your last day? What would you want to accomplish? This is not a purely rhetorical exercise. When tomorrow gets here, it becomes today. In that way, we never have tomorrow. So what it today were your last today? What would you do? And why aren't you doing it now?
