I do believe that there are many people out there who are timid, shy, or have trouble asserting themselves. Those folks tend to get labelled, defined if you will, by the groups that surround them. The timid folk may wish to define themselves, but they are pulled under by the current of opinion and tend to conform to others’ expectations of them. And lest someone think I am picking on timid or shy folks, I am usually one of them.
So do we define ourselves, or do others define us? If we do define ourselves, how do we do that? Or perhaps more importantly, how do we do that in an honest and accurate manner? Indeed, if we allow other to define us, how do we know that is honest and accurate? As always, I am a seeker of answers. I welcome any and all thoughts.
