The first time was when I was riding the elevator up. A young lady was riding the elevator as well. She was wearing a Tweety bird hat. It looked warm and cozy, which was fitting for the cold day. It made me smile for two reasons. The first reason I smiled was that I thought the hat was funny. The second reason I smiled was that the young woman had more courage than I did. Maybe it wasn't courageous of her to wear the hat. Maybe she thought it was warm and comfortable, and that was all that mattered. I just know that among the many things that I could not possibly look right wearing, that Tweety hat is one of them.
The second time happened right before we went on break. A group of carolers came around singing Christmas carols. I was feeling the stress of the end of term grading and wrap-up when I heard songs coming through the open office door. I was delighted to go out in the hall and listen to several songs. It was a great stress reliever and certainly an unexpected delight for many of us.
As for the picture I used for this post? Who doesn't like an adorable kitten shot? Hope that was an unexpected delight for your day.
