My intent is to use this post to set up several to come in the days and (maybe) weeks ahead. For those who have read my blog, you know that I am not typically delving into politics or religion. Indeed, those are two areas that I always tell my writing students to steer clear of. I want this post to be a fair warning that some—or maybe most, at least for a time—of my upcoming blogs will focus on various issues that will be overtly political or religious in nature. Politics and religion will at least feature as side issues.
I will preface the posts in this vein with a TW in the title. I will do that out of respect for readers who may not care to read what I have to say about some issues. My reason for doing this upcoming series stems in part from a quote from Elie Wiesel that I was reminded of recently, “The opposite of love is not hate, it's indifference. The opposite of art is not ugliness, it's indifference. The opposite of faith is not heresy, it's indifference. And the opposite of life is not death, it's indifference.” Whatever else I may be, I am not indifferent to the many issues facing us all right now.
