What makes it worse, at least to me, is that almost everyone has an opinion that he or she is only too happy to express to friends, family, and total strangers on various social media platforms. I realize that I am one of those expressing my opinions, but I also VOTE every year. It doesn't matter whether the people I vote for win or not. The point is, I have done my civic duty, and I have made my voice heard. For me, that makes it a little easier to express my opinion and not feel like I am just blowing hot air.
So if you are regsitered to vote, vote. And it's not just about the big elections, either. There are always any number of smaller ballot initiatives that need attention from the locals. Pay attention, get informed, and go vote. It's not hard. It might cost you a little time, but just think about all that time you spend on social media anyway. Waiting to vote might give you something to post about later.
